The ultimate test of your woodworking skills – the Chippendale chair. The angled rear legs and trapezoidal seat come together with compound angled mortise-and-tenon joints. Combine the joinery with a couple of cabriole legs, a curved back splat and a carved crest and you’ve got a woodworking project tour de force.
This chair build includes two cabriole legs with either trifid feet or ball and claw feet, depending on your carving skills. You’ll also choose between a solid or pierced back spat. The crest rail includes carved ears and a scallop shell.
Some of the skills learned in the Chippendale Chair class are:
- Shaping multiple cabriole legs for a project
- Compound angle joinery
- Making a curved back spat
Materials are not included in the class fee. Lumber for this project may be purchased through us or on your own and shipped to our shop at least four weeks prior to the class.
