And the Make a Chapin Side Chair class takes place just down the road from the Chapins’ hometown in Manchester\, Connecticut\, at the Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nChapin Side Chair\nTrapezoidal-seat chairs remain some of the most challenging woodworking projects because they employ so many different disciplines. Most Chippendale chairs involve tremendous carving skills in addition to profoundly-honed joinery skills. This Aaron Chapin side chair is simple yet elegant and is an excellent choice for intermediate and advanced woodworkers alike. There is enough to challenge any woodworker without being overwhelming. Once learned\, this skill makes future bandsaw use a breeze. You will then progress through the techniques required to make the cutting board: how to make dead-on straight cuts on the bandsaw\, how to make accurate angled cuts on the bandsaw\, and how to plane\, sand\, glue\, and clamp the cutting board. \nUsing only three woods\, walnut\, cherry\, and maple\, you’ll work under Alex’s direction to make a beautiful and functional cutting board that you’ll take home. More importantly\, you’ll go home with the knowledge and experience to be able to set up a bandsaw to make accurate cuts regardless of what you’re making.
