Milling Fundamentals – Sponsored by Felder USA
July 9 @ 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
An event every day that begins at 8:30 am, repeating until July 10, 2020
If you want flat, true material to build your projects, you need to have a good foundation in Milling Fundamentals. Regardless of whether you are hand-tool or machine-tool focused (or you’re fairly balanced between the two), understanding wood structure and how it reacts to various edged tools makes a big difference in the quality of your work.
This 2-day class begins with a practical lesson on wood structure, then moves through sharpening and dimensioning lumber solely with hand tools. The class then moves on to safety instruction and use of the relative power tools. We round out the class with practical exercises that help blend hand and power to create the flattest, smoothest, and most accurately dimensioned material possible.
